Enjoy Irish Culture ezine May 2014
May 01, 2014
Dear readers,

welcome to our May newsletter.

It certainly is spring now with balmy evenings and gorgeous toasty sunny afternoons.

If you are any way like us you'll be thinking ahead to your summer holidays.

Let us bring you some inspiration of some stunning places to visit- this time in the South East!

If you have never been to the Rock of Cashel, make 2014 the year to visit this historic site. No better year to visit than during the 1,000th anniversary year of Brian Boru, High King of Ireland whose coronation took place here.

And once at Cashel, there are so many stunning treasures within a half an hours' drive from here.

We took in the Ormond Castle last year and fell in love with this beautiful building and its unusual history. Highly recommended.

Closeby also is the stunning medieval Norman market town of Fethard, one of Ireland's kept secrets which boasts an extremely well preserved medieval town wall and gates. A must see for lovers of our medieval past.

The town of Cahir with an amazing medieval castle at its heart is also within easy reach. Run by the OPW, it offers great value and great quality guided tours.

If you stay in the area for longer than a weekend, you'll want to include a triip to medieval Kilkenny City and pay a visit to Kilkenny Castle, too. There, you'll get a feel for how castles changed after the fortified era concluded. Kilkenny Castle has large gardens and is surrounded by a beautiful park with a playground to round off your visit.

So go off and have fun in Tipperary and Kilkenny!

Enjoy Irish Culture now has a facility for visitors to the site to submit their favourite Ireland travel photos. We will develop these into an online gallery. Why not submit some of yours? We'd love a hand in getting this project off the ground.

Thanks very much for subscribing, hope you have a great month ahead. Enjoy the build-up to Saint Patrick's Day and the big day itself!

And please spread the word about our website so that others may enjoy it, too!

Thanks a million! Warmest regards from Susanna and Colm
